Culm Sheath Color : 10-12.5 cm long, as broad as long, round at tip, glabrous or with brown appressed hairs in small patches, brightgreen when young, later becoming straw-coloured; imperfect blade 2.5-5 cm long and 0.75-1.25 cm broad, lanceolate,usually recurved, appressed, brown hairy within, slightly rounded at base and decurrent to form a very narrow entirewing on the top of the sheath, longer on young shoots; ligule narrow, entire.

Description of Inflorescence and Flower : terminal spike or panicle, usually onleafy branchlets; rachis 10-15 cm long, bearing 2-3branchlets with few shining ca.2.5 cm long coriaceousspikelets in small verticils. Spikelets 6-10-flowered, palebrown, shining; rachillae short, striate, shortly hairyat the apex; flowering glume acuminate, folded at thebase, more than 20-nerved; palea much narrower, 2-keeled, 7-nerved between the keels, 4-nerved outside,ciliate on the keels; lodicules 3, the two longer onesoften united at the base, many-nerved and somewhatfolded. Ovary almost obovoid, almost hairy at the apexand tapering into a style; stigmas 3.

Uses: Fish traps, javelins
