Description of Inflorescence and Flower : largecompound interrupted panicle of smallsubglobose heads, often leaf-bearing;heads with several fertile and many sterilespikelets, 7.5-12.5 cm diameter; rachispubescent, flexuose, flattened on one side.Spikelets 2.5 mm long, glabrous, blunt ortruncate, 2-cleft, with 2 fertile flowers and1 empty, terminal on a protruded rachilla; glumes 2, broadly ovate, blunt, long ciliate. Stamens free; filaments short; anthers yellowish, bluntly acute at the tip.Ovary glabrous, ovoid-globose, surmounted by a short thick style; stigmas 2 or 3, plumose.
